Victoria’s Secret brought back its legendary Fantasy Bra on Sunday, Oct. 18, ending an eight-year absence from the runway. The sparkling centerpiece of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was kept secret until Kylie Jenner stepped out wearing it, surprising the audience with one of the night’s most memorable moments.
Created with luxury high-jewelry brand Jacob & Co., this year’s Fantasy Bra was valued at $50 million, making it the most expensive version ever produced. The intricate design featured 4,410 natural diamonds weighing a total of 1,373.39 carats. It was further accented by drop-diamond fringe along the bust and a single 75.54-carat Natural Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond at the center.
Jenner, founder of KHY, paired the history-making piece with fluffy white wings and an all-white lingerie set, creating a dazzling look that stood out during the show. Her mother, Kris Jenner, and boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, were seated in the front row and were seen cheering her on.
The Fantasy Bra has a long and celebrated history. It was originally crafted in 1996 and first worn by Claudia Schiffer. The most recent edition before this year was made for the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and worn by Elsa Hosk; designed by Swarovski, it contained 21,000 diamonds. Over the years, the famous bra—often priced at more than $1 million—has been worn by Angels including Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Miranda Kerr and Jasmine Tookes. In 2000, Gisele Bündchen wore “The Heavenly Star Bra,” which was worth a record-breaking $15 million at the time.
Before the show, Victoria’s Secret released a series of teaser videos announcing the Fantasy Bra’s comeback but did not reveal who would wear it. Social media users quickly speculated about the choice, with some arguing that an original Angel should have the honor and others rooting for names such as Adriana Lima or Candice Swanepoel. Some also predicted that a newer model or competition winner would receive the coveted role.
After the show, Jenner shared behind-the-scenes photos of her preparation for the runway, including a close-up of the diamond bra. Alongside the image, she wrote, “best day ever.”
