Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona has died at 13, his family announced Tuesday.
In a statement to Page Six, the family said they were “deeply heartbroken” by the loss of Fiona, describing her as a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance. They said she was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents, calling her “the light of our lives.”
The family added that Fiona’s passing is devastating for the entire family and asked for prayers and privacy. The statement also encouraged anyone struggling with mental health to reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Lowe shared Fiona with his wife, producer Kim Painter. The couple are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Parents at Fiona’s school received an email Tuesday morning from the principal informing them that a student had died. The email, obtained by Page Six, did not name the student. It said the school’s sincere condolences go out to the student’s family, friends, and teachers, and noted that counselors were available to meet with students and staff who needed emotional support.
Lowe, 58, last posted about Fiona on Instagram in November 2025 in honor of her birthday. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote alongside a photo of her smiling in cowboy boots. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
In February 2025, Lowe shared photos of his daughters visiting what remained of their childhood home in Los Angeles after it was destroyed in the Palisades fire. In one image, all three daughters had their arms around each other.
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” he wrote at the time. “I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
Lowe also spoke about being a girl dad on the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast in August 2024, again calling it a privilege. He said having three daughters had deepened his understanding of equality and the challenges women face, adding that he looks at the world from their perspective. He noted that society is becoming more conscious of the role of women.
Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, has been married to Painter since August 2010. He was previously married to Hilary Swank; the couple split in January 2006 after eight years of marriage.
