Sienna Miller is addressing the brief red carpet moment involving her 14-year-old daughter, Marlowe, that quickly drew public attention.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Julia Cunningham Show,” Miller said she felt “slightly concerned” after Marlowe was seen at the London premiere of “War.” The actress clarified that her daughter did not actually walk the red carpet with her. Instead, Marlowe attended with a friend, and Miller’s mother was also there.
According to Miller, Marlowe came over at the end to give her a hug, a moment that lasted only about five seconds but still managed to steal attention. Miller joked that her daughter “totally mogged” her.
The 44-year-old actress admitted she has some “regret” about how the situation played out, explaining that neither she nor Marlowe expected the strong reaction to the teenager. She quipped that she might send her daughter to a nunnery for the next four years until she emerges as an adult, but stressed that the red carpet appearance was neither planned nor intentional.
Miller also praised Marlowe, saying that while her daughter is “extraordinarily beautiful,” her looks are far from the most interesting thing about her. She described Marlowe as clever, funny, and still her little girl. Marlowe is Miller’s daughter with ex Tom Sturridge.
As for whether there will be more red carpets together, Miller said she isn’t sure. She noted that Marlowe simply “popped on at the end” and reiterated that the moment lasted only five seconds.
Miller, who also shares a 2-year-old daughter and a son born earlier this year with boyfriend Oli Green, 29, said being a famous parent “is hard.” She explained that children often want to be part of their parents’ exciting world, but it can be easy for their lives to become defined by public moments. She added that while Marlowe wanted to be at the event, parents should not write their children’s histories or futures for them.
